roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite preserve your precious memories, photos, music and data on CD's, Hard Drives, DVD's....EASILY
|

I have been using Roxio's Easy CD Creator for more than five years. In addition to using the program to duplicate my Music CD's I also store data backups on CD Media because I didn't trust tape drives for my data storage when the drive failed to restore data I had lost due to a hard drive failure.
Even though I invested in an expensive tape drive, it failed to perform as promised. After the data loss I opted for a second hard drive for my backups, but I still needed to store my data externally if my computer died entirely, so I got a copy of Easy CD Creator 4 and started making data copies on CD's. Not only were the CD's transportable, but the CD's never failed to restore my data EXACTLY as I had backed it up with no data loss.
Easy CD Creator allowed me to created backup routines and didn't require my attendance during the backup process until the time my backups required more than one CD. The program would pause itself and wait for the additional CD.
I performed dozens of backups and used them to transfer my data to a new computer and to store it roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suiteotely from my computer. I was an early convert to digital photography so Easy CD creator was being used to store my digital photos as well as my data.
I love to listen to music when I drive, and I made archival copies of all my CD's so that my originals stayed at home and the copies were used while I traveled.
In the 80's, music stores had an $80,000 machine that would let you choose individual songs and make your own CD. I remember thinking that someday................
About a year after that, I was shopping in Fry's, an electronic superstore on the west coast and it was there that I saw a CD drive burner made by Smart and Friendly. which was designed for Pac's. The price was in the range of about $1000.
I really had a burning desire (no pun intended) to buy the drive but I held off knowing by past experience that the price would eventually fall. I settled for a $100.00 ZIP drive which stored 100 MB of data on a $15.00 ZIP Disk. I was durable and the next version of Calendar Creator was able to record data to them.
When the price point hit slightly below $200.00 I purchased my TEAC burner. The drive came with a program called Adaptec Easy CD Creator. Now I could do the same thing with the included software that the $80,000 machine did. It was easy and fun. No longer would I have to worry about the summer heat ruining my CD's, or scratching them, loosing them or sitting on them!
The advent of MP3 music MP3 tunes on the net had also caused my data storage needs to increase in size dramatically. My Zip drive was no longer adequate for performing backups. With a TEAC burner, I could create 75 backups on CD's at the same cost as a single $15.00 Zip Disk.
After I installed the drive I decided to test it by backing up my data. At that time my data was about 50 megabytes, and the 650 megabyte CD's provided more space than I would ever need Yeah right!....) The recordable CD's at that time cost about $1.00 each. (Currently selling at under 20 cents each with DVD-R's at about $1.00 each. My data needs were now up to 20CD's and growing. The key to managing all this media was left to roxio's Easy CD Creator with never a single instance of data loss in the years I have been using the program.
And that says it all.............
When roxio introduced Easy Media Creator 8 Suite, I was able to backup to my external hard drive. Again the excellent and easy to use interface made this a snap and at last truly unattended automated backups became possible. I am a fanatic about backing up my data as you probably have guessed by now. The next generation of pocket sized 120 GB hard drives mad toting an external drive a pure pleasure. Now I store my mini drive at my in-laws' knowing that my data is fully secure. roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite recognizes all my storage devices and allows me to store my music and photos on my mini drive.
I recently purchases two new computers, a desktop and a laptop. Both came with the operating systems stored on their hard drives. Both were capable of using DVD-R also known as movie disks for data storage. With 4 GB of storage on every disk, the capacity can easily store your operating system with room to spare.
Each of the computers suggested that I back up the operating system. It would take multiple CD's to accomplish this, but a single CD-R could do it on a single disk. Now I had another way to store data and roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite writes to this new and exciting media!
roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite is easy to use and makes backing up an easy task.

On the left, you will see the
program's opening screen. From this well designed command centeryou can
select from the most common tasks on the right side of the screen. Start
duplicating or creating CD's in seconds. It's that easy! Here you see that I have selected a CD as my storage medium. I am ready to create or duplicate a CD. |

The screen shot on the left
shows a backup selection called easy archive. For many people this
selection will back up photos, financial data, email, music, documents,
favorite web site listing and other critical data. This method will most
likely suffice for qa good many people. If you store your files by the default method in Windows this should work fine. Since I file my data in a single data directory under the name of the program that created them, I choose to customize my backups to include the data directory and others I have created for photos. The program allows you "have it your way." If you are like far too many people who do not back up, sooner or later you WILL lose your data. Backing up is easy to do, roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite simplifies the job. |

Here you see the files I
have chosen to backup using the Backup Wizard.ion. The last three folders
containing the AdAware, Address Book and bpftp are checked off and ready
to backup once the "Next Button" is pushed. One or two more clicks and the backup begins. Nothing could be easier. Another terrific feature is the drag to disk feature. This handy tool resides on the destop and allows to to drag and drop a file or photo directly to your recordable CD.

As I mentioned previously, the program was originally called easy CD Creator. It is this aspect of the program that is very important to me. With it you can create data CD's or duplicated your music CD's for archive purposes. I prefer to keep my original Music CD's at home to prevent loss by theft, damage or environmental conditions that may ruin a CD.
Digital photos are as priceless as your standard "old Fashioned" film based photos. They are storable on various types of Media including CD's and recordable DVD's. DVD's are the best way to go because they provide 4GB of storage instead of 800 MB on a standard CD. They are a bot more costly, and an old computer may not be able to write to them, but recently purchased computers are usually capable of burning DVD's.
Keep your photos on a DVD and store them at a relatives house and you have a guarantee they will be there for you if you experience a fire or theft of your equipment. EMC make this very easy to do.

This screen shows you how
easy it is to duplicated your CD. Select the "Copy
Disk option and then click the
red button and the copying begins.
First the data to be duplicated will be copied to your hard drive temporarily. You then need to click the button and the disk will be "burned" in a matter of minutes. In the early version of Easy CD Creator, I was sold on just the ability to duplicated CD's and use CD's to back up may data. With the added features this is a MUST HAVE for anyone who wants to preserve data, duplicate CD's and DVD's and to save and restore their data. I call this my multi-media Swiss Army Knife. With the addition of the program's ability to record to my USB drives it is the best value for it's modest price! |

Now that you have duplicated your CD, how about printing an insert for the CD Case or a label for the CD itself. roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite has a label creation module that makes this a simple task. They offer standard templates for front and back Jewel Case Inserts and CD Stick On Labels such as the examples I have created above.
Simply add your text to the design and you have an outstanding label for your newly created CD. If you created a music disks, all the tracks can be listed on the rear cover.
If you created a data file, you can list the files contained on the CD.
Unlike most software programs today,
roxio includes extensive and well written documentation which easily explains
the process of creating CD's and labels. You don't have to access the file from
a program CD, so in essence, you can learn while you burn. (Pun Intended!)
The program is so well designed and so instinctive that you will be up and running
creating CD's in no time.
I've tried a number of CD creation programs, but none compare to roxio's roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite. It is the program you must have if you want to get the most out of your CD burner.
