WebDraw Jasc WebDraw
A Major Graphics Arts Tool

If you design graphics for a living, or if you are a person who enjoys creating dynamic graphics, then you should consider Jasc's WebDraw.

I have experimented with other graphics draw programs including Corel Draw. I use graphics on my websites, but because drawing was always a hassle I used canned shapes to produce basic graphics shapes.

Jasc has the latest technology called SVG or Scalable Vector Graphics. SVG is a giant step forward in graphics design. Instead of selecting a tool on a tool palette and then scaling it by dragging the various control points, you simply click on the canvas and pull the graphic to the exact size you need.

The example below (left) shows three SVG's which were drawn using the standard shape tool and dragged into three distinct progressions in a matter of 45 seconds. I then took a section, chose a gradient color scale, added a beveled edge, copied the section, rotated it joined it together and added the black circle in the blue section.

All this was accomplished with not a single glance of any documentation. In a half hour I was comfortable with the program.

Ever see the size of the manual in most draw programs? They resemble the thickness of an instruction manual for a passenger jet.

The graphics on the right were created using the preset  shape tool and several others from the drawing toolbox. You can see the grayed out images of the tools to the left of the objects.

I have a small amount of experience with drawing software, yet I was able to create shapes with gradient coloring as well as inserting photos on the canvass.

The program is so instinctive that most users with an average knowledge of basic graphics manipulation should be able to use the features quickly.

The graphics above show what can be done with the rotation capability of the program. The center photo was duplicated twice and rotated. They were moved to join the arrangement you see. Images can also be made
to overlap each other if you desire to do so.
Jasc makes object manipulation a snap!
The screenshot above shows the object just as it's about to be rotated. The small "x" point in the very center of the picture is the rotational axis indicator. You can move the axis point to any place in the graphic and the graphic will rotate relative to the axis.

The screen shots on the left show you two of the major components of the program.

The tool bar, which as you can see , is easy to understand all of your graphics designs will be created using elements of the toolbar.

The color palette, where you select the colors you will need. Note that there is a circle in the blue ring. The ring is moved with your mouse to the color family on the color wheel. The color dot is the exact color you will get if you click on OK. Easy, isn't it?

The effects tool makes it easy to create colorfully filled geometric shapes. A grid option is included so that you can easily align objects to each other.

Items can be grouped as well. By grouping items together, the items all move together. Items can just as easily be ungrouped once again.

As with all Jasc products, Jasc WebDraw is available for a 30 day free trial. Visit Jasc on line by clicking on the button image below. (Button Design by Jasc of course!)
