I am amazed that as software programs grow in size and diversity the accompanying documentation has become smaller and smaller or non-exist ant.
While it is true that programs are becoming somewhat more user friendly, the lack of documentation heightens the learning curve and limits the productivity of the user.
Perhaps the software writers egotistically believe that they have created programs so easy to use that documentation is no longer necessary!
NOT TRUE!
I have, from the beginning of my computer experience some 15 years ago, always used aftermarket books to assist me in learning how to utilize programs I have purchased or upgraded faster and more comprehensively.
It's a sad fact that many users never utilize the full power of the programs they purchased. For less than $ 40.00, they should have also purchased a Que or Sams Manual for the program.
The hints and tips found in the book make learning a more enjoyable experience. The book will almost always pay for itself.
In addition to software titles, Macmillan published books that will teach you how to upgrade your computer yourself, or get up and running on the Internet quickly.
Program writers have the misguided belief that people hate to read anything.
If you've ever stumbled around frustrated while trying to learn a program, reading a Sam's or a Que publication would have helped you to learn the program faster.
